General election in Estonia 1999
The 1999 parliamentary elections in Estonia took place on Sunday, March 7, 1999. It was the election of the 9th Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia .
Electoral system
101 seats were redetermined in the Estonian parliament. The legislative period was four years. There was a five percent threshold . The election was based on proportional representation .
Election result
The winner of the election was the Estonian Center Party (K). She got 23.4 percent of the vote and got 28 seats in parliament. The Patriotic Union (IL) landed in second place with 16.1 percent . The third strongest force was the Estonian Reform Party (RE) with 15.9 percent.
