The 2009 local elections in Estonia took place on October 18, 2009. The organs of the local self-government were elected , including the municipal councils and mayors. A total of 3,076 mandates were available. The election cycle is regulated every four years.

  • 324 electoral alliances of citizens

Nationwide result

The Estonian Center Party emerged as the electoral winner with a significant increase in votes compared to the last election. The People's Union (ERL) suffered a significant loss of votes and only achieved 1.9 percent, around 10.6 percentage points less than in the previous election.
