Konstitutsioonierakond
The Konstitutsioonierakond - EUPP ( German Constitutional Party , Russian Конституционная партия) was a Russian minority party in Estonia until 2008 .
The party was founded in 1994. Until February 2006 it was called Eestimaa Ühendatud Rahvapartei ("Estonian United People's Party"). With the new name, the party referred to the European Constitution , whose values it supports and whose regulations it wants to see applied in Estonia.
The Konstitutsioonierakond described itself as a pragmatic party without a fixed left-right position. She saw herself primarily as a political representative of the Russian-speaking minority in Estonia.
The party advocated a close partnership with Russia and a strengthening of the political and social rights of the Russian-speaking population of Estonia. She called for the unconditional naturalization of all people legally living in Estonia. In 2007, the party sharply opposed the relocation of the Soviet soldiers' memorial from downtown Tallinn to commemorate the conquest of Tallinn by the Red Army in 1944. The party also stood up against neo-Nazism , including with a vigil in front of the German embassy in Tallinn .
From 1999 to 2003 the party still held six seats in the Estonian parliament with an election result of 6.13% . After that, she failed at the five percent hurdle . In 2003 it received only 2.2% of the votes cast, in the Estonian parliamentary elections in 2007 only 1.0% of the voters voted for the party.
In June 2008 the party merged with the Estonian Left Party to form the "Estonian United Left Party" ( Eestimaa Ühendatud Vasakpartei ). However, she did not run in the 2011 parliamentary elections .
Since 2003, no Russian minority party has been represented in the Estonian parliament.
