The ESV Lok Pirna (full name: Eisenbahnersportverein Lokomotive Pirna eV ) is a sports club from Pirna founded in 1948 .

With the creation of the "Lokomotive" sports association of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1948, the BSG Lokomotive Pirna was also founded. The asphalt bowler Eberhard Luther won the first world championship title for the GDR in Essen in 1955 ; Elfriede Stäps-Preibisch became student world champion in sprint. In large field handball , the first men's team became Saxon champions. In the kayak , Herbert Gocht was multiple East Zone and GDR champion.

The handball players are currently among the most successful athletes at ESV Lok Pirna. After a 7th place in the handball regional league , Season South, the first men's team secured the right to start the newly created 3rd league in 2010 and competed in the east season in the 2010/11 season. Since the 2013/14 season, the handball players have been playing together with HSV Dresden as the HSV Lok Pirna Dresden syndicate, after having previously cooperated in youth work.
