The HSC Bad Neustadt , also called "Red Kites" since 2018 , is a handball sports club based in the Lower Franconian town of Bad Neustadt an der Saale . The first men's team will play in the third division in 2019/2020 .

history

The handball sports club Bad Neustadt was founded in 1977 and has been a handball club from Franconia for over 40 years .

In the season 78/79 succeeded as champions of the association league, the entry into the playoffs for promotion to the league. Here one prevailed and played from there on in the Bavarian Oberliga. In 1991 one rose to the regional league as champions of the league and established oneself there among the top teams. But the greatest success came when they made promotion to the 2nd Handball Bundesliga South in the 2001/02 season . But after only one season it went one floor lower and the HSC became a fixture in the regional handball league again. The 9th place in the 2010/11 season secured one of the last tickets for the 3rd League East after a mixed season. In the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons, the handwriting was replaced by the former trainer Dr. Matthias Obinger more and more recognizable. After three runner-up championships in a row, the HSC is starting in 2014 with a new trainer. Obinger publicly complained at the end of the 2013/2014 season about the waiver of the right of promotion, the HSC was sovereign in first place in the table at that time. A marketing offensive launched at the beginning of 2014 did not bring the money required for an advancement. In Obinger's opinion, under these circumstances he could no longer motivate himself and the team and they split despite a valid contract. The contract of the former Czech national goalkeeper Rostislav Badura was not renewed at the end of the season for financial reasons. Under the new player-coach Margots Valkovskis, the club is back in the eastern season after a one-year interlude in the southern season (2013/2014). After several years of the 3rd division, HSC Bad Neustadt was relegated to the bottom of the table from the 3rd division East to the Bayernliga at the end of the 2017/2018 season.

After a year-long stint in the Bavarian League, the return to the third division was made perfect in the subsequent promotion games. After five games in the new 3rd division middle, they separated from promotion coach Chrischa Hannawald . Frank Ihl was then hired as a trainer and should create the ascension command relegation.

Venue

Only a few teams could and can take the points home with them from the hall, which was renovated in 2009, and so the Mayor Goebels Hall, which was built on the Schulberg in 1974, quickly became known as an "impregnable fortress". Over 700 spectators flock to the home games every second weekend, and at local derbies against Erlangen, Rimpar or Coburg there are more than 1000.

The venue of the HSC Bad Neustadt is the Mayor Goebels Hall, which was opened in 1974 and renovated in 2009, on the Bad Neustädter Schulberg. The games are usually attended by between 400 and 600 spectators. At previous local derbies against Erlangen, Rimpar or Coburg, audience results were achieved by 1,300 spectators.
