Robert Nyholm (born March 7, 1988 in Jakobstad ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Vaasan Sport in the Mestis , the second highest league in Finland, since 2008 .

Career

Robert Nyholm began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HIFK Helsinki , where he was active until 2006. In the NHL Entry Draft 2006 he was selected in the fifth round as a total of 129th player of the Columbus Blue Jackets , for which he however never played. Instead, the winger ran from 2006 to 2008 for the Kingston Frontenacs in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . For the 2008/09 season he returned to HIFK Helsinki, for whose professional team he has since played in the SM-liiga . In the 2010/11 season he won the Finnish championship with the team . Parallel to the game with HIFK, the left shooter ran regularly as a loan player for Kiekko-Vantaa in the second-class Mestis from 2008 to 2012 .

International

For Finland Nyholm took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006 . At the U18 World Cup in 2006, he and his team won the silver medal.
