Michael Schweikardt (born March 7, 1983 in Waiblingen , Germany ) is a former German handball player who currently works as a handball trainer.

The 1.90 m tall player was originally a left wing player , but since the departure of Michael Kraus from Frisch Auf Göppingen , Schweikardt was mainly used as a playmaker in the back center position .

Schweikardt started playing handball at TV Bittenfeld . With the TVB Schweikardt rose in 2003 to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . In 2003 he moved to the first division club Frisch Auf Göppingen. In the 2006/2007 season and in the 2007/2008 season he was voted Player of the Year at Frisch Auf Göppingen. At the beginning of 2010 it became known that his contract in Göppingen would not be extended, whereupon he switched to MT Melsungen . For the 2012/13 season he rejoined his former club TV Bittenfeld. At the end of the 2014/15 season , Schweikardt was promoted to the Bundesliga with the TVB. From the 2015/16 season he played in the Bundesliga with the club, which is now called TVB 1898 Stuttgart . Schweikardt ended his active career at the end of the 2018/19 season . He played 427 Bundesliga games in which he scored 944 goals.

In addition to his career as a player, Schweikardt completed his training for the A license as a handball coach. For the 2019/20 season , Schweikardt took over the coaching position of the third division club TSB Heilbronn-Horkheim . In addition, he works for his hometown club TVB 1898 Stuttgart in youth and follow-up support as well as in scouting.

In 2006 Schweikardt was awarded the sports merit plaque of the city of Waiblingen for special services to sport.

Michael Schweikardt comes from a handball family. His brother Jürgen Schweikardt was a player at the then second division TV Bittenfeld and is currently its manager and coach in the Bundesliga. The father of both, Günter Schweikardt , was himself a Bundesliga player at Frisch Auf Göppingen and trained the then second division TV Bittenfeld until June 2013.
