Günter Schweikardt (born October 30, 1948 ) is a German handball player , trainer and manager .

Schweikardt was active as a player for TV Bittenfeld . In 1971 he moved to Frisch Auf Göppingen and became German champion with the club in 1972 .

1973 Schweikardt moved back to Bittenfeld and took over the management of the indoor handball team as player -coach. From the 1990s he led the club as a coach from the regional league via the association league , the Württemberg Oberliga and the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg to the regional league . In 2006 he was promoted to the 2nd Handball Bundesliga South . During the 2007/08 season , the previous assistant coach Henning Fröschle took over the position of head coach from Schweikardt, who switched to the position of sporting director . After Fröschle resigned from his position in December 2008 and was replaced on an interim basis by Jens Baumbach , Schweikardt returned as head coach and now formed the coaching team with Baumbach and Klaus Hüppchen . At the end of the 2010/2011 season he qualified with TV Bittenfeld for the newly established single-track 2nd handball Bundesliga . In March 2013 Schweikardt resigned as a trainer. He remained with the club in his role as sporting director and responsible for the area of ​​sport in the shareholders' meeting of TVB 1898 Handball GmbH & Co. KG.

Günter Schweikardt is the father of Jürgen Schweikardt , the managing director and trainer of TVB 1898 Stuttgart, and Michael Schweikardt , who was a player at TVB 1898 Stuttgart. Günter Schweikardt's brothers Rolf Schweikardt and Eugen Schweikardt also played handball at TV Bittenfeld and were promoted to the Württemberg association league with the club in 1960.
