Jens Baumbach (born February 23, 1983 ) is a former German handball player and coach .

Baumbach comes from Oeffingen . As an A-youth, Baumbach switched from TV Oeffingen to TV Bittenfeld in 2001 . With the TVB Baumbach rose in 2003 to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . In 2004 he achieved promotion to the regional league with the TVB . In 2006 he was promoted to the 2nd handball Bundesliga south with Bittenfeld . In February 2011, Baumbach ended his active career due to an injury.

Baumbach held the position of left winger .

Parallel to his activity as a player, Baumbach was already working as a coach for the 2nd team. After Henning Fröschle's resignation as coach of the 1st team in December 2008, Baumbach also took over this role on an interim basis until he was replaced by Günter Schweikardt . Up until the 2009/2010 season , Baumbach worked together with Klaus Hüppchen as Günter Schweikardt's assistant. After the end of his playing career, Baumbach continued to coach the 2nd team.

In 2006 Baumbach was awarded the sports merit plaque of the city of Waiblingen for special services to sport .

Baumbach holds a degree in business administration and works as a buyer for a mechanical engineering company in Ditzingen . He lives in Bittenfeld .

Baumbach's sister Maren was also active as a handball player.
