Bittenfeld has been part of the district town of Waiblingen in the Rems-Murr district in Baden-Württemberg since January 1, 1975 . After the village Bittenfeld the apple variety was Bittenfelder named.
geography
The Zipfelbach , its right tributaries Horgenbach (on the southern outskirts) and Kleewiesenbach , in whose lowest valley the old town center extends, as well as the shorter Lembach , which runs a little after the Horgenbach from the left, flow through the town .
The Böllenbodenhof residential area belongs to Bittenfeld .
Bittenfeld is the northernmost district of Waiblingen.
history
The first written mention of Bittenfeld comes from the year 1185. In 1574 the place came into the possession of the Augsburg city noble family von Herwarth , who from then on called themselves Herwarth von Bittenfeld .
The place was affected by the Thirty Years War , the Plague and the Napoleonic Wars , among other things .
A hoped-for upward trend was slowed down again by the two world wars until after 1945 the transition to a workers' community began. However, agriculture is still practiced there .
On January 1, 1975, Bittenfeld was incorporated into the district town of Waiblingen.

The coat of arms shows in a split shield in front in green a golden, red-armored, left-facing, soaring lion, at the back divided five times by gold over green. The lion was borrowed from a seal that was in use as early as 1850. The coat of arms was issued in 1951.

Sports
The men's handball team of TV Bittenfeld has played in the handball Bundesliga since the 2015/16 season . The team plays some of its home games in the Stuttgart Porsche-Arena and in the 2014/15 season, with 2210 spectators, it had the highest average of all handball clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga . Most home games, however, take place in the Scharrena Stuttgart .
In June 2015 the team was renamed “TVB 1898 Stuttgart”.
