Doris Fischer

Doris Fischer (* 1962 in Bittenfeld ) is a German art historian and monument conservator . She was chief curator at the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Rhineland-Palatinate . She has been the director of the Thuringian Palaces and Gardens Foundation since May 1, 2017 .

Life

Fischer studied European art history , archeology and Romance studies at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and received his doctorate in 1993 with an undergraduate dissertation on the St. Paulinus Church in Trier. Fischer was only active as an area officer in the practical preservation of monuments at the State Office for Monument Preservation in Rhineland-Palatinate. In January 2001 she was appointed curator for life and in 2012 senior curator. In January 2015 she was appointed head of the inventory department and deputy state curator , and in May 2016 she was appointed chief curator.

On May 1, 2017, she succeeded Helmut-Eberhard Paulus , who retired as Director of the Thuringian Palaces and Gardens Foundation on April 30, 2017.
