The Thuringian Palaces and Gardens Foundation is a non-profit foundation under public law and is financially supported by the State of Thuringia . Its seat is at Heidecksburg Castle in Rudolstadt . It was founded in 1994 and looks after 31 palaces, castles, monasteries, parks and other historical facilities in Thuringia.

Co-founder and first director of the foundation was Helmut-Eberhard Paulus . Doris Fischer succeeded him in 2017 .

The foundation is one of ten state lock administrations in Germany.

1 December 12, 2008: Weimar City Palace , without Bastille, to Klassik Stiftung Weimar in exchange for two Dornburg castles
2 December 12, 2008: Weimar New Museum was exchanged for the Kirms-Krackow-Haus in Weimar.
3 The state of Thuringia originally wanted to sell the system. On July 8, 2009 the castle came to the foundation.
