The MacDonald Hills are a compact group of rocky hills in East Antarctica Victoria Land . They tower east of the Commonwealth Glacier on the north side of the lower Taylor Valley . The highest point is Mount Coleman with 1110 m .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountains in 1997 after William R. MacDonald (1925-1977), head of the department for international activities of the United States Geological Survey , member of the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names and from 1976 to 1977 the United States Board on Geographic Names .
