The Commonwealth Glacier is a glacier in East Antarctica, Victoria Land . It begins under the summit of Mount McLennan in the Asgard Range , where the Canada and Loftus Glaciers also begin, at an altitude of around 1900 meters. From there it flows southeast and ends west of Mount Coleman in the Taylor Valley , where it forms the eastern boundary of Lake Fryxell .
Participants in the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott mapped it. Named the glacier after is of Australia ( Engl. Commonwealth of Australia ), the government had funded the expedition. With geologists Thomas Griffith Taylor and Frank Debenham , the team also included two Australians who had explored the glacier.
