The Taylor Valley is the southernmost of the three large Antarctic dry valleys in East Antarctic Victoria Land . The approximately 28 km long and 6 km wide valley stretches from the Taylor Glacier in the west to the Scott coast at McMurdo Sound in the east. It was once completely occupied by the named glacier. There are several lakes in the Taylor Valley. The Bonneysee lies in the west and the Fryxellsee in the east of the valley. In between are the Hoaresee , the Tschadsee , the Popplewellsee , the Mummy Pond and the Parera Pond . The valley is separated from the Wright Valley in the north by the Asgard Range and from the Ferrar Glacier in the south by the Kukri Hills .

The Taylor Valley is located in Specially Managed Area No. 2 (ASMA-2) "Antarctic Dry Valleys, Southern Victoria Land". It includes the Special Protected Area No. 131 (ASPA-131) "Canada Glacier, Fryxell Lake, Taylor Valley, Victoria Land" and parts of the Special Protected Area No. 172 (ASPA-172) "Lower Taylor Glacier and Blood Falls, Taylor Valley, Antarctic Dry Valleys, Victorialand ”.

Participants in the British Discovery Expedition (1901–1904) discovered it. It was explored during the Nimrod Expedition (1907–1909) and the Terra Nova Expedition (1910–1913). It is named after the geologist Thomas Griffith Taylor (1880–1963), participant in the Terra Nova expedition.
