The Scott Coast is a stretch of coast along McMurdo Sound in East Antarctic Victoria Land , stretching between Cape Washington in the north and Minna Bluff in the south. The Borchgrevink Coast connects to the north and the Hillary Coast to the south . It lies largely on the open Ross Sea , but extends into the Ross Ice Shelf in the south .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the coast after the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912), leader of the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) and the Terra Nova Expedition (1911-1913), under his leadership Most of this coast has been explored and numerous geographical objects have been named.
