Fährmannshaus is first mentioned in 1886. Since then, the place has been named as a place to live. Meyers Orts- und Verkehrs-Lexikon des Deutschen Reiches from 1913 assigns the place Hegnach. The place later became part of the municipality of Hegnach, which was incorporated into the city of Waiblingen on January 1, 1975 as part of the municipal reform.
