The Geheime Mühle is a residential area belonging to the Beinstein district of the city of Waiblingen in the Rems-Murr district in Baden-Württemberg .

location

The secret mill is located across from Beinstein on the other bank of the Rems , a right tributary of the Neckar . The mill is a bit away from the Rems, with which it is connected by a mill canal.

history

The mill was first mentioned in 1442 as Kymenmühle under a miller Konrad. The description of the Oberamt Waiblingen from 1850 suggests that this name goes back to an earliest owner called Kymo . The description also states that half of the mill was acquired by the Hofdomainenkammer or Kammerschreiberei in 1688 from the parish of Beinstein and half by Burgvoigt Georg Raab in 1690, and that it was handed over to the Winnenthal Castle Administration for administration, and that it was owned by the Hofdomainenkammer in 1850 and was leased. On December 1, 1971, the living space was incorporated into the city of Waiblingen together with Beinstein. In January 2000, the secret mill burned down to the ground. A factory for textile machine accessories was housed in the buildings until autumn 2017. Today there is a hydropower plant of the local energy supplier Stadtwerke Waiblingen in the secret mill .

The mill passes a street called Mühlenweg, which connects Beinstein and the L 1193 . The L 1193 in turn connects Waiblingen with the federal highway 29 . The cycle path along the Rems and the Waiblingen cycle path lead past the mill. The mill is located on Waiblinger Mühlenweg, which leads from here via the Hahnsche Mühle and the Häckermühle to the Hegnacher Mühle .

Cultural monument

The bakery, barn and cellar house of the Secret Mill are protected as a whole as a cultural monument.
