Treaty of Kruschwitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Treaty of Kruschwitz , also known as the Kruschwitz Treaty , was signed on June 16, 1230 between Konrad von Masowien and the Teutonic Order in Kruschwitz . According to this contract, the duke transferred the Kulmerland to the Teutonic Order . Furthermore, Konrad recognized the independence of the order state and the rule of the Teutonic Order over all land that it would conquer beyond the borders of Poland.

An original document of the contract has not been received. In historical studies it was therefore controversial whether the contract was actually concluded in this way. The German historian Max Perlbach had denied the authenticity in 1873; it was largely followed by Polish history. Perlbach's thesis has been disproved since 1980.
