ATSV Stockelsdorf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The general gymnastics and sports club Stockelsdorf from 1894 is a sports club from the East Holstein community of Stockelsdorf north of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck . The club's women's soccer team was one of the most successful in Schleswig-Holstein in the 1980s and was able to take part in the German championship and the DFB Cup several times. In addition, the men's handball team played in the third-class regional league for several years. With almost 2690 members, the ATSV is the largest sports club in the Ostholstein district.

Club history

The club was founded on November 5, 1894 as the Stockelsdorf gymnastics club and was later called Arbeiter Turnverein Stockelsdorf . After the National Socialists came to power, the association was dissolved and expropriated in May 1933. In 1945 the General Gymnastics and Sports Club Stockelsdorf was founded as the successor to the ATV.

Soccer

In women's football, Stockelsdorf took part in the DFB Cup in 1983, 1984 and 1988 , but was eliminated in the first round. In 1987 the ATSV, who played in the Regionalliga Nord from 1986 , achieved their first qualification for the German championship, in which they caused a surprise with a 2-2 in the first round match against last year's semi-finalist TSV Siegen . However, the favorite won the second leg 9-0 and later became German champions for the first time. In the following year, the Ostholsteinerinnen succeeded in qualifying again, which, however, ended with an elimination in the first round.

In 1989 the women's football department in the ATSV dissolved and was only re-established years later.

Handball

The handball division in ATV was founded in 1923 and was revived as one of the first divisions after the end of the war. The 1st men's team played in the first-class Schleswig-Holstein state league in 1956/57 . In 1995 she was first champion of the highest national league and rose to the northern relay of the third-class Regionalliga Nordost, where she initially placed in the middle of her own relay. In the 1998/1999 season, the ATSV took third place in its season and qualified for the championship round of the NOHV, which secured the club direct qualification for the single-track regional league of the 1999/2000 season. There he was one of the top teams and was able to place third in 2002/2003 for the first time in front of local rivals VfL Bad Schwartau , although a derby victory against VfL only came three years later.

The ATSV could not repeat the successful 2003 season. After a few years in the secured midfield of the table, relegation to the Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein took place in 2007, from which one also had to relegate two years later. Since 2013, the Stockelsdorf men have been playing again in the highest national division, the Schleswig-Holstein League.

The first women's team has been part of the Hamburg - Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga since 2012 . In the youth, the ATSV (especially in the male area) is one of the more successful clubs in the Schleswig-Holstein Handball Association (HVSH). In addition to the regular membership in the top division of the HVSH or the regional association NOHV , which existed until 2011 , the ATSV youth produced the national player Sven-Sören Christophersen , among others .
