The gymnastics and sports club Siegen is a gymnastics and sports club from the city of Siegen . The women's soccer team achieved nationwide fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s, which celebrated several championships and cup wins.

history

The club was created on January 23, 1971 from a merger of the Spielvereinigung Trupbach, founded in 1909 (in 1962 the name was changed to Turn- und Spielverein Trupbach ) and the SpVg. 1962 Seelbach . Trupbach and Seelbach are neighboring districts in the city of Siegen.

Women's soccer

The club achieved nationwide fame through its women's soccer team, which between 1987 and 1996 was referred to as " FC Bayern Munich 's women's soccer". This team originally came from Siegener SC and was taken over by TSV Siegen on July 18, 1974, as they had better financial opportunities. At that time around 30 players switched to TSV together with Manfred Nell. Between 1974 and 1980 the team won the Westphalia championship title three times and came second three times. In addition, they won the Westphalia Cup three times. The sporting rise of the Siegen team began with the entry of the Siegen flower wholesaler Gerd Neuser , husband of the former national goalkeeper Rosi Neuser , who persuaded both his wife and other national players such as Silvia Neid , Petra Bartelmann , Sissy Raith or Andrea Haberlaß to move to Siegen. In addition to the role of coach, Neuser also held numerous other functions in the club at this time and employed players such as Silvia Neid as an employee in his company.

successes

In 1987 TSV even managed to win the double (championship and cup).

In 1997 the women's department was taken over by the Sportfreunde Siegen association .
