Sven-Sören Christophersen (born May 9, 1985 in Lübeck ) is a former German handball player . He is 1.98 m tall and played on the left or center backcourt . He is nicknamed "Smöre".

Career

Christophersen began playing handball at the age of seven at ATSV Stockelsdorf , where he was later used in the men's regional league team as an A-youth.

In 2003, the TBV Lemgo signed Christophersen, who, however, could not prevail there. Therefore, he was loaned to Eintracht Hildesheim for the 2006/07 season. In the 2007/2008 season Christophersen played again for TBV Lemgo. From January 2008 it was loaned to the Wilhelmshaven AGM for six months . On May 3, 2008, Christophersen scored a personal best with 18 goals in the Bundesliga match Wilhelmshaven against TV Großwallstadt .

From the 2008/09 season, Christophersen played at HSG Wetzlar . Here he developed into a leading player and one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga. At the beginning of 2010 it was announced that Christophersen would be moving to Füchsen Berlin for the 2010/11 season. There he became one of the team's most successful goal scorers in the Bundesliga and Champions League. In 2014 he won the DHB Cup with the Foxes . For the 2014/15 season he moved to TSV Hannover-Burgdorf . Christophersen ended his career in summer 2018 and has been a member of the management team at TSV Hannover-Burgdorf ever since. He also acts as an expert on ZDF.

For the German national handball team he played 101 international matches, in which he scored 182 goals. He made his international debut on November 22nd, 2006 in Dortmund against Austria . In 2008 he took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing with Germany .

Christophersen completed an apprenticeship as a banker at the Sparkasse in Lemgo.
