Handball Bundesliga 1979/80

The handball Bundesliga 1980/81 was the fourth of the single-track seasons and the total of the 15th season of the top German division in men's handball in the history of the handball Bundesliga . The season began on September 20, 1980 and ended with the last game day on May 23, 1981.

14 teams played for the German championship. The first in the table on the 26th matchday was German champions 1981. The newcomers to the new season were SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen , VfL Günzburg and VfL Heppenheim . In addition, the DHB Cup was played for the seventh time.

The German champion in 1980 was the team from TV Großwallstadt for the fourth time in the club's history .

TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen , TSV Milbertshofen and VfL Heppenheim had to relegate from the handball Bundesliga to the regional leagues .
