Then Klaus Zöll became a trainer. In 1976 he took over TV Großwallstadt. He was the successor to Norbert Anthes. In the very first year of its activity, the team became German champions after a 12:11 win against VfL Gummersbach in 1978 . He was able to repeat this success in the next season. The culmination of the season, however, was winning the European Cup (today: EHF Champions League ) against SC Empor Rostock . After this success, Zöll gave up the coaching position in Großwallstadt. His successor was Karl-Heinz Bergstrasse . After TV Großwallstadt lost to bottom of the table SG Weiche-Handewitt (today: SG Flensburg-Handewitt ) in a Bundesliga game on March 9, 1985 , Bergsträßer was suggested to resign and Zöll took over the team again until the end of the season. His successor was Jiří Vícha .
