from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tatra 80 was the luxury version of the large car type 70 that the Tatra factory in Nesselsdorf brought out in 1931. It was the largest and most expensive car that Tatra had made until then.

Tatra 80 (1932), water-cooled 12-cylinder engine, 5990 cm³, 88 kW (120 PS), in Essen (Technoclassica 2005)

The luxury vehicle had a water - cooled side - controlled twelve-cylinder V-engine (65 ° cylinder angle) with 5990 cm³ displacement and 115-120 PS (84.5-88 kW) power. The engine delivered its power to the rear wheels via a single-disc dry clutch and a 4-speed gearbox. The maximum achievable speed of the approximately 2400 kg car was 130 to 140 kilometers per hour. The chassis was a central tube construction that had a rigid axle with two transverse leaf springs at the front and a pendulum axle with transverse leaf half springs at the rear. The wheels were designed as discs or with wire spokes.

The car was manufactured as a 6-seater sedan and landau . 25 vehicles were built by 1935.

The successor was the Type 70 A manufactured from 1934 .
