The Tatra V 855 was the prototype of a snowmobile based on the car types 87 and 97 , which the Tatra factory in Nesselsdorf manufactured in 1942.

The sled had the air-cooled 8-cylinder OHC V-engine of the passenger car type 87 with 2,968 cm³ displacement and 75 HP (55 kW) power. The built-in rear engine driving a rear propeller with partial protection cage and for starting an additional lowerable roller at the rear (similar to that of snow groomer ) to. The maximum speed was 80 km / h.

The 4-door body of the type 97 car with a detached front and modified bonnet stood on 4 wide skis. The front skis had to be turned with the steering wheel for cornering.

This snowmobile was intended for use on the Eastern Front , but the Wehrmacht never realized it. Therefore, there was no series production.

A faithful replica of the Tatra V 855 was made in 2006/2007 by Ecorra for the Lane Motor Museum , Nashville, USA.
