The Tatra V 809 was a medium-duty off-road vehicle that the Tatra factory in Nesselsdorf launched in 1940 as the successor to the Tatra V 799 and produced until 1942.

The vehicle had an overhead , air-cooled four-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 2472 cm³ and an output of 37 - 38 kW (50 - 52 hp). By increasing the cubic capacity and reducing the compression compared to the previous model, the same performance was achieved with reduced fuel quality. As with its predecessor, the engine drove all four wheels via a single-disc dry clutch and a four-speed gearbox with countershaft, which offered eight forward gears and two reverse gears. The maximum speed was 75 km / h.

There was only an open, four-seater Kübelwagen body . The car was used by the German Wehrmacht - also in the Africa Corps . When the model phased out in 1942, there was no successor to the medium-duty off-road vehicle.
