Kurt Klühspies (born February 4, 1952 in Würzburg ) is a former German handball national player , his playing position was the right back space.

Career

In 1970 Klühspies played for the first time for TV Großwallstadt in what was then the highest German class, alongside his long-time companion Manfred Hofmann . From 1978 Klühspies dominated the newly founded Bundesliga with TV Großwallstadt and four championship titles in a row .

In 1980 Kurt Klühspies resigned from the national team with other top performers out of disappointment with the Olympic boycott in Moscow.

Kurt Klühspies announced his official resignation from handball in 1984. In 1986 and 1988 he jumped in again in the European Cup. As a “savior” he helped TV Großwallstadt in 1991 and 1993 in the relegation battle.

After his active career, he worked briefly at TV Großwallstadt under Karl-Heinz Bergsträßer as a trainer assistant and acquired the B license for handball trainers . For a short time he was head of department at TVG.

Kurt Klühspies, who is 1.96 meters tall, has two children and is a trained industrial foreman. He has been working at Adidas as a key account manager for many years . Today he lives in Erlenbach am Main and is a member of the advisory board of TV Großwallstadt.
