Handball Bundesliga 1969/70

The 1970/71 season of the handball Bundesliga is the fifth of the double-track seasons in its history .

16 teams played in two seasons of eight teams each for the German championship in 1971. The game for the championship has been preceded by a semifinals since the 1969/70 season , for which the first and second teams in the North and South teams compete after matchday 14 qualified. The winners from the semi-finals competed against each other in a final. The winner is German champion 1971. The new season promoters were SC Phönix Essen 1920 and TSV Milbertshofen .

German champion in 1971 was the team of TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen for the first time in the club's history , defeating defending champion Frisch Auf Göppingen in the semi-finals and the winner of the season south, TV Großwallstadt , in the final. The Reinickendorfer Füchse and the TV Oppum 1894 had to dismount .

The VfL Gummersbach also won the European Champions Cup .
