Wilfried Meyer (born October 17, 1943 ) is a former German handball player . The goalkeeper became German champion with TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen .

Career

Meyer initially played for the Hanover Police Sports Club in the handball Bundesliga . After he was relegated to the league with the club in 1968, he moved to TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen . He played exclusively for the indoor team and became German champion in 1971 and DHB cup winner in 1975 . In the same year the final game of the German championship against VfL Gummersbach was clearly lost 7:13. Then he moved back to Hanover to the police sports club.

Meyer made his debut on March 19, 1966 against Spain in Bremen for the national team of the Federal Republic of Germany . He made a total of 24 international matches. He was part of the German squad at the 1974 World Cup in the GDR . There he was used in five games.
