Bernhard Busch (born November 3, 1951 in Olsberg ) is a former German handball player . The left backcourt player played for TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen and SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and was German champion both in field and indoor handball . He played 42 international games for the German national team , with which he took part in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal .

Career

The 1.98 m tall Bush came in 1970 from TSV Bigge-Olsberg to the reigning German field handball champion TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen . In the first year he celebrated with the club the double win of the German championship in the hall and on the field. With Dankersen he won another championship and two runner-up championships, won the DHB Cup three times and was in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup , which was lost in 1976 with 24:26 after extra time against the Spanish representative BM Granollers . In 1979 he moved to the Bundesliga relegated SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen , with whom he managed to get promoted again. In 1982 he was relegated with the team and let his career in the 2nd Bundesliga end.

Busch made his debut on November 17, 1974 against Romania in Ploieşti for the German national team . At the 1976 Olympics , he played all six games. A medal was narrowly missed due to an 18:21 defeat after extra time in the game for third place against Poland .
