Manfred Horstkötter (born April 9, 1940 in Bielefeld ) is a former German handball player .

Career

Horstkötter began his career at TSV Altenhagen 03 , where he was once Westphalia champion and West German runner-up behind VfL Gummersbach in the youth division . In 1962 Horstkötter switched to Grün-Weiß Dankersen . With the Mindenern , Horstkötter was three times German champion and one European Cup winner in field handball . In 1971 he became German champion with Dankersen. A year later he returned to Altenhagen and became the West German champions as a player- coach with the team.

During his time in Dankersen Horstkötter rose to the German national team . In 1963 he took part in the field handball world championship in Switzerland , where the German team lost the final against the GDR . After his career, Manfred Horstkötter worked as a sports teacher at the Friedrichs-Gymnasium in Herford . Today the pensioner lives in Bielefeld- Altenhagen .
