The handball Bundesliga 1984/85 was the eighth of the single-track seasons and the total of the 19th season of the highest German division in men's handball in the history of the handball Bundesliga . The season began on September 28, 1984 and ended with the last game day on May 18, 1985.

14 teams played for the German championship. The first in the table on the last day of the match was German champions 1985. New season promoters were TuRU Düsseldorf , SG Weiche-Handewitt and SG Wallau / Massenheim . In addition, the DHB Cup was played for the eleventh time. The team from TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen renamed itself and started this season as TSV GWD Minden because it hoped that this would generate greater interest from the sponsors .

The German champion in 1985 was the team from VfL Gummersbach for the tenth time in the club's history .
