Rudiger Neitzel

Rüdiger Neitzel (born March 16, 1963 ) is a former German handball player . He played in the left back space .

With the German national team , Neitzel won the silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In 124 international matches , he threw 334 goals, 21 of them by seven meters . Neitzel was known for his tough pace in defense and a large number of penalty minutes. In the 124 internationals he came to a total of 102 penalty minutes.

In the all-time list of goalscorers in the handball Bundesliga , Neitzel is 33rd with 1,122 goals (266 of them seven meters), which he scored in 265 games (as of July 1, 2007).

Rüdiger Neitzel grew up in Solingen and graduated from the Schwertstraße high school there . Then studied medicine in Cologne . Today he is a specialist in orthopedics and sports medicine , based in Munich .
