Frank Dammann

Frank Dammann (born May 10, 1957 in Braunschweig ; † April 4, 2017 in Hanover ) was a German handball player .

Dammann grew up in Garbsen near Hanover. As a teenager he was an active football and tennis player for TSV Havelse ( Oberliga Nord). Frank Dammann came to handball through the school selection of the Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium Garbsen . His school sports teacher at the time, Victor Schmidthauer, discovered the great handball skills of left-handers. His first club station was in 1976 SV Arminia Hannover . For the 1978/79 season Dammann moved to VfL Gummersbach . The right winger was German champion in 1982, 1983, 1985 and 1988, and in 1982, 1983 and 1985 he also won the DHB Cup .

His first international match for the national team played Dammann on January 10, 1979 in Viborg against Iceland . He scored 89 goals in a total of 83 international matches.
