Sigurður Valur Sveinsson

Sigurður Valur Sveinsson (also Siggi Sveins ; born March 5, 1959 ) is a former Icelandic handball player .

Sigurður Valur Sveinsson played in the 1982/83 season for the German handball Bundesliga club TuS Nettelstedt . After TuS was relegated at the end of the season, he moved to TBV Lemgo , where he played until 1988. He was in the 1984/85 season with 191 hits, 81 by seven meters , scorer . He then played in the 2nd handball Bundesliga at OSC Dortmund , where he was again top scorer in 1989/90 . In the 1990/91 season he played in the Spanish league ASOBAL at Atlético Madrid .

Sigurður played 242 international matches for the Icelandic national team , scoring 736 goals. He took part with Iceland in the Olympic Games in 1984 and 1988 , as well as in the 1993 World Cup in Sweden , where he finished sixth in the scorers' statistics with 37 hits.
