Konrad "Conny" Wilczynski (born February 9, 1982 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian handball player of Polish descent. His height is 1.80 m. Wilczynski was mostly used as a left winger. He is also known by the nickname “ Wuzzler King ” because of his tricky turns .
Career
Player career
Konrad Wilczynski began playing handball in Vienna; from 1992/93 to 2001/02 he played for West Vienna, where he also made his debut in the first team before moving to A1 Bregenz in 2002/03 . Here he won the Austrian championship in 2003/04 , 2004/05 and 2005/06 and the Austrian Cup in 2002/03 and 2005/06 . He also took part in the EHF Cup with the Vorarlbergers in 2002/03 and 2004/05 and in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2003/04 . In 2005/06 Wilczynski reached the group stage of the EHF Champions League . The team managed a victory against SC Magdeburg in which the outside player scored the decisive goal with a seven meter throw . In 2006/07 he moved to the German second division team Füchse Berlin , with whom he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga in the first season . In the 2007/08 season , Wilczynski, who played with the shirt number 17, was surprisingly top scorer for experts with 237 goals . His contract in Berlin ended in the summer of 2011. He then returned to Austria. He signed a five-year contract with SG Handball West Vienna . In the summer of 2014, Wilczynski ended his playing career in order to concentrate on his managerial work.
Konrad Wilczynski played 136 international matches for the Austrian men's handball team and scored 578 goals. He picked for the national team at the 2010 European Men's Handball Championship , 2014 European Men's Handball Championship and the 2011 World Men's Handball Championship in part. In 2014 Wilczynski ended his national team career.
Management and television career
In addition to his involvement as a professional athlete, the Viennese completed a degree in economics and, when he moved to the Austrian league, took over the position of managing manager at SG Handball West Vienna . In 2016 Wilczynski founded the company Sportbox for which he has been the managing director since then. In addition, he has been volunteering as Vice President of the spusu LIGA since 2016.
Since his return to Austria, he has repeatedly worked as a co-commentator for Austrian broadcasting at the Austrian national team .
