EHF Champions League 2005/06

39 handball club teams that had qualified for the competition in their home leagues in the previous season took part in the EHF Champions League 2005/06 . It was the 46th edition of the EHF Champions League or the European Cup of National Champions. The defending champion was the Spanish club FC Barcelona . The cup games began on September 3, 2005, the second final took place on April 30, 2006. In the final BM Ciudad Real was able to prevail against Portland San Antonio .

mode

At the beginning, a qualifying round in the knockout system with a return leg was played by the lower-ranked clubs. The winners made it to the group stage and the losers to the second round of the 2005/06 EHF Cup . In the group stage with eight groups of four teams each, each group played a game against each other. The two best in the group reached the second round and the third group played in the second round of the 2005/06 European Cup Winners' Cup . From the round of 16 onwards, the knockout system was played with a return leg and the winners progressed to the next round. The winner of the final was the EHF Champions League winner of the 2005/06 season.

The draw for the qualification took place on July 26, 2005 in Vienna .
The 14 teams that had previously qualified for the competition took part.
The first legs took place on 3rd / 4th / 9th. September 2005. The second legs took place on 9/10/11. September 2005.
