European Champion Clubs' Cup (handball) 1978/79

At the European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1978/79 took 26 Handball part -Vereinsmannschaften from 26 countries. They qualified for the European Cup in their home countries in the previous season . In the 19th edition of the competition, the winner was determined for the first time in two finals (home and return). The TV Großwallstadt was able to win the title with its first participation. Defending champion SC Magdeburg was only registered for the European Cup Winners' Cup by the German Handball Association of the GDR .
