The HC Linz AG is established in 1972 by Austrian Handball Association of Linz .

The club rose in 1974 to the top division. They have been Austrian champions seven times (1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1994, 1995 and 1996) and have won the Austrian Cup four times (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997). In 1994 the club was in the final of the EHF Cup . The U21 team became champions eight times.

The first men's team of HC Linz AG plays in the Handball League Austria , the highest Austrian league. The team has been in the top division without interruption since its promotion in 1974.

There is a game community and cooperation with the ASKÖ HC Neue Heimat association, with the top-level sports sector being served by HC Linz AG and the performance-oriented popular sports sector by the ASKÖ HC Neue Heimat, and the youth work is carried out jointly.

The home arena is the Sports Secondary School Linz Kleinmünchen.
