Jürgen Rohde

Jürgen Rohde (born January 2, 1953 in Chemnitz ) is a former German handball goalkeeper .

He played from 1967 to 1973 with SC Magdeburg and then until 1990 with SC Empor Rostock . Active for TV Grambke-Bremen in the 1990/1991 season , he played again for Empor in Rostock from 1991 to 1995 . Then he was still active at Bad Doberaner SV.

Jürgen "Waffi" Rohde played 50 times in the European Cup with Empor Rostock and was European Cup winner in 1982 and European champion in club team competition. He was three times GDR champion and seven times GDR cup winner.

Rohde played 28 games with the national team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR); he was in the squad of the German handball association of the GDR at the handball world championship 1982 .

Rohde has been a goalkeeping coach at Empor Rostock since the 2008/2009 season.
