Jean-François Kahn (born June 12, 1938 in Viroflay ) is a French publicist. He founded the weekly Marianne in 1997 and remained its managing director until 2007. He was the top candidate for the Mouvement démocrate party in the constituency of Est in the 2009 European elections in France .

Life

Jean-François Kahn is the son of the Jewish philosopher Jean Kahn-Dessertenne and the brother of the doctor and geneticist Axel Kahn and the chemist Olivier Kahn .

After studying history for three years, he worked at the post office and then in the printing industry. He then became interested in journalism and was sent to Algeria as a reporter for the Algerian war. His investigation led to the disclosure of the Ben Barka affair.

He then worked for various newspapers, magazines and radio stations: Paris-Presse, L'Express , Europe 1 , Le Monde . In 2007 he left his position at the weekly "Marianne", which he had founded, and supported François Bayrou in the French presidential elections.
