EHF Champions League 1995/96

In the EHF Champions League 1995/96 , 35 handball club teams took part, which had qualified for the competition in their home leagues in the previous season. It was the 36th edition of the EHF Champions League and the European Cup of National Champions. The cup games began on September 3, 1995, the second final took place on April 26, 1996. In the final between the Spanish participants, FC Barcelona prevailed against defending champion Elgorriaga Bidasoa .

mode

Before the group stage called “ Champions League ”, a round of elimination, a round of sixteen and a round of 16 in a knockout system with a return leg were held. The winners of the round of 16 qualified for the group stage with two groups of four teams each, in which each group had a round trip against each other. The two best in the group played the winner of the EHF Champions League of the 1995/96 season in the final with a return leg.

Elimination round

The first leg took place on September 3, 1995 and the second leg on 9/10. September 1995. An exception were the return match between Partizan Belgrade and HK Topoľčany, which both took place on September 9 and 10, 1995 in Belgrade .

The first leg took place on 11/12. November 1995 and the second leg on 18./19. November 1995, with the exception of the encounter between Granitas Kaunas and THW Kiel , the first leg took place on November 17, 1995 in Berlin and the second leg on November 19, 1995 in Kiel .

The first leg took place on April 20, 1996 in Barcelona and the second leg on April 26, 1996 in Irun . In the third year since the competition was called the EHF Champions League, a team from Spain won for the third time.
