EHF Champions League 1999/2000
In the EHF Champions League 1999/2000 , 34 handball club teams took part, which had qualified for the competition in their home leagues in the previous season. It was the 40th edition of the EHF Champions League and the European Cup of National Champions. The defending champion was FC Barcelona . The cup games began on August 27, 1999, with the second final on April 29, 2000. In the final, FC Barcelona prevailed again, this time against THW Kiel .
mode
At the beginning there were two matches in a qualifying round, played in a knockout system with a return leg. The winners qualified for the round of 32, also played in a knockout system with a return leg. The winners reached the group stage known as the “ Champions League ”. In the group stage with four groups of four teams each, each group played a return match against each other. The two best groups in each group reached the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards, the knockout system was played back and forth. The winner of the final was the EHF Champions League winner of the 1999/2000 season.
Elimination round
The return match between TJ VSŽ Košice and STIF Stranda took place on 27./28. August 1999 in Skála . The first leg of the other game on August 28th in Nicosia and the second leg on September 4th in Tbilisi .
