TV Zofingen

The TV Zofingen (abbreviated TVZ ) is an in Zofingen beheimateter Handball Association and is a member of the Swiss Handball Association and has several men, women and junior teams. The club colors are red / white.

Club history

The association was founded in 1852. The most successful years were in the 1970s and 1980s. In a Finalissima against ZMC Amicitia Zurich it was in Zurich in 1978 for the first time in club history, and in 1983 five rounds before the end of the season for the second time Swiss champion. Thus, the club was entitled to participate in the European Cup , today EHF Champions League , 1978/79 and 1983/84 . The first time TV Zofingen voluntarily refrained from participating in the trophy. In the 2011/12 season, the men of TV Zofingen will play in the second highest division in Switzerland, the National League B. The women currently (as of 2011) play in the Swiss Premium League, the highest Swiss division.

successes

In the 1983/84 season they prevailed in the European Cup up to the quarter-finals, after victories over the Italian champion Cividin Trieste with a total of 40:48 and the Israeli champion Hapoel Rehovot with a total of 43:45. In the quarterfinals they were eliminated against the eventual winner of the tournament Dukla Prague with a total of 38:42. A year later, the club was allowed to take part in the EHF Cup as a set Swiss representative , but was eliminated in the first round against the then Ukrainian champion SIL Saporoshje.

The men's team was represented in the top Swiss league, the National League A , for twenty-one seasons and is 10th in the all-time table.
