Hans-Georg Jaunich

Hans-Georg Jaunich (born October 18, 1951 in Schwaan ) is a former German handball player and current coach.

Life

Jaunich played in the GDR Oberliga for SC Empor Rostock and was GDR champion with the club in 1973 and 1978. In 1979, Rostock was able to reach the final in the European Cup , but the Hanseatic city lost against TV Großwallstadt . Jaunich achieved the greatest success of his career with the GDR national team when he became Olympic champion at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow . For this success he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. In total, the right winger played 16 internationals in which he threw 16 goals. Today Jaunich works as a teacher at the Schwerin sports high school and as a handball trainer in the youth division of SV Post Schwerin . In his work as a trainer, he was in charge of several DHB youth national teams. In the 2016/17 season Jaunich worked as head coach at his home club, the second division club HC Empor Rostock . Subsequently, he was appointed sports director.
