The ZKS Wisła Płock is a sports company from the town of Płock on the Vistula .

history

Founded in 1947 as Wisła Płock, the club was renamed Petrochemia Płock in 1992, Petro Płock in 1999 and Orlen in 2000, until the team was renamed again in 2002.

Wisła Płock is one of the most successful teams in recent Polish handball history.

Football department

So far the team has been denied a title in the championship, in the 2004/05 season they reached 4th place. The team achieved the greatest success by winning the Polish Football Cup in 2006 against Zagłębie Lubin . Internationally, Wisła Płock failed in qualifying for the UEFA Cup in 2003/04 to FK Ventspils . On the last day of the Ekstraklasa 2006/07 Wisła Płock had to relegate to the Polish lower house . In the 2009/10 season, they were relegated to the third-class 2nd league, Group East , but were immediately promoted again. In the 2015/16 season , the club made it back to the Ekstraklasa and was also able to maintain relegation in the following season.

The traditional club colors are blue and white.

Handball department

The first men's team plays in the highest league in Poland, the PGNiG Superliga Mężczyzn . She took part in the EHF Champions League in 2004/05, 2005/06 and 2006/07 , but was eliminated in the preliminary round. The "Sportshall" of Wisła Płock, which is known for its euphoric atmosphere, is internationally feared, where the team even beat the THW Kiel in the 2005/06 season . 2008/09 Wisła retired without a point in the first group stage. In 2011/12 they reached the second round in the Champions League after finishing fourth in the preliminary round, where the THW Kiel is again the opponent.
