Radosław Matusiak (born January 1, 1982 in Łódź , Poland ) is a former Polish football player .

Career

Matusiak made his breakthrough in 2005 at the GKS Bełchatów association . He moved there for the 2004/05 season on a free transfer and was able to establish himself as a striker in the team from day one. Since he turned out to be one of the best Polish young strikers, the Italian club US Palermo signed him in the winter break of 2006/07. There he only got just under 100 minutes of playing time in 3 Serie A games. For the next season, Matusiak moved to the Dutch club SC Heerenveen , where he signed a three-year contract including an option for another year. For the second half of the 2007/08 season Matusiak was loaned to the Polish first division club Wisła Kraków . After this season he will return to SC Heerenveen.

Because of his 17 goals and 4 assists in the 2005/06 season, the Polish national coach Leo Beenhakker became aware of him. On September 6, 2006 Matusiak made his debut against Serbia in the jersey of the Polish national team , where he scored to lead Poland 1-0 (final score: 1: 1). Matusiak also scored on his second outing for Poland. In the qualifying game against Belgium for the European Football Championship in 2008 , he scored the 1-0 winning goal for the Polish national team and also scored in the second leg against Serbia (2-2). He thus had a significant share in Poland's qualification for the European Football Championship in 2008, but was not considered for this by coach Leo Beenhakker.

On August 29, 2008 Radosław Matusiak prematurely ended his career. However, he signed on December 23, 2008 again a contract with Widzew Łódź , who then played in the 2nd Polish league. Here he scored only one goal in seven games. For the 2009-10 season he moved to the Ekstraklasa at Cracovia Kraków , where he briefly found his way back to the old eye for goal. In a total of 35 games for Cracovia, Matusiak scored eight goals. On January 18, 2011, he signed a 2.5-year contract with the Greek first division club Asteras Tripolis . However, Matusiak was never really able to assert himself in Greece and moved back to Poland to Widzew Łódź during the winter break of the 2011/2012 season after only 4 league games in which he did not score a goal . In August 2012 he announced his retirement again.

Two months later, he did a trial training session at the German third division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt .

In total he has scored 30 goals in 127 games in Poland in Ekstraklasa and 20 goals in 112 games in the 2nd division.
