Wolfgang Schwenke (born March 27, 1968 in Flensburg ) is a German football official and former handball player and handball trainer . He has been managing director at Holstein Kiel since 2009 .

Career

Wolfgang Schwenke began his career at VfL Bad Schwartau . In 1987 he moved to first division club THW Kiel , with whom he in 1994 , 1995 , 1998 , 1999 and 2000 German champion and in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 the DHB Cup and in 1998 the EHF Cup won. Apart from a short break, he stayed in Kiel until 2001. At the same time, he trained as a physiotherapist and studied business administration at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences . After the end of his playing career in 2001, he went part-time as a coach for the second division club TSV Altenholz . In the 2008/09 season he coached the Bundesliga club Rhein-Neckar Löwen and led them to third place in the Bundesliga and into the semi-finals of the Champions League .

For Germany , Schwenke , who played on the left on the backcourt , played 53 international matches in which he scored 96 goals. In 1992 he took part in the Olympic Games in Barcelona with the DHB selection .

On August 1, 2009, Schwenke switched to football and, as managing director, took on responsibility and personnel management of the office, technical game operations and the marketing and sales department of Holstein Kiel .

Private

The graduate in business administration is married to Karen Oßowski and has two children.
