The Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG is offering a German company which components, systems and solutions in the field of electrical engineering, electronics and automation. The headquarters are in Blomberg, Lippe . Since it was founded in 1923, the company has developed into an international company.
Company history
Hugo Knümann founded a commercial agency for electrical products in Essen in 1923 and sold contact wire clamps for electric trams. A little later the young company called itself Phönix Elektrizitätsgesellschaft. In 1928 Hugo Knümann designed the first modular terminal block together with the Rheinisch-Westfälische Elektrizitätswerke (RWE). It was used in RWE's power plants . On the night of March 13, 1943, bombs hit the company's headquarters at Hollestrasse 36 in Essen. The company relocated its headquarters to Blomberg and manufactured in the rented “Bürgerheim”. In 1957 the first two production buildings were built on the Flachsmarkt in Blomberg. Blomberg has been the company's headquarters since 1966.

The product range includes components and system solutions for energy supply including wind and solar, device and machine construction as well as control cabinet construction. This includes terminals, connectors, cable connection technology and installation accessories as well as electronic interfaces, power supplies, automation systems, safety solutions, surge protection systems, software programs and tools. With its products, the Phoenix Contact Group serves markets in the automotive industry, renewable energies and infrastructure.
